Dublin punks, Fontaines D.C. have confirmed that they’ve finished recording their second album in LA and that it’s “a lot more influenced by The Beach Boys”. Their explosive debut album ‘Dogrel’ which was released in April reflected on the experience of growing up in Dublin while the new album sees the band addressing the wider world in general. The band said in a statement - “The record feels like a dream that sometimes goes into nightmares and fairytales. It’s been a very up-and-down year. There’s been no time for any break, so it’s been madness at times and we’ve felt quite lost. But it’s been magical as well.”

Happy 50th birthday Jay Z and welcome back to Spotify! Jay Z owns the rival music streaming service Tidal and removed his solo work from Spotify back in 2017 before released ‘4:44’ but today his entire music catalog has returned to the platform!

#bestofnovember Floorplan - Supernatural On their second album as a duo, Detroit techno titan Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric sharpen their focus on the fusion of house music and gospel. [2019 = the year of gospel] The core of Hood’s music is still techno but as the album continues the surface becomes more soulful. The Floorplan sound is much warmer than Hood’s solo work, a shade more house than techno, and Supernatural contains the duo’s most enthusiastic work yet. “Song Like This” feels like genuine gospel music, not just a dance remix—a veritable tabernacle choir of joyous voices, organ licks, and cymbals crashing. For the less spiritually inclined, the album still functions as a full-bodied dance workout.

Columbus post punk trio Hidden Places “debut” album ‘the circle is not round’ is set for release everywhere next Friday, december 6th. In the past month the band has released two singles brimming with jerky post punk energy [separator/mundanity] and we can’t wait to hear the whole album [swipe right to hear separator] In 2017 the Columbus band debuted with an incredible EP titled “uh’s”. In just 17 minutes the band managed to explore a mirage of influences including Talking Heads, Interpol, and Dismemberment Plan while maintaining a distinctive, unique style. David Fuller leads the group with an eccentric, energetic stage presence along and we can’t wait to see this new music performed in 2020.
