October have been a terrible month of happenings in the world but dance music pushes forward and this month saw a grab bag gnarly sounds from across the spectrum delivered with:
- Intricate sound design courtesy of Despina, Ma Sha, Nídia, Delay Grounds, and Spooky Shit
- Huge sub-bass from Skeptical, Ricky Force, and D3U5E
- Off-kilter sexy techno from "your favourite lez-loonatics Roza Terenzi & D. Tiffany" as Tapestry of Sound on Step Ball Chain
- And of course anthemic bangers from Pangaea's full length featuring tracks like Installation which have blowing up clubs and festivals all year
In the non-dance sphere we were blessed by Sampha after 6 long years of waiting with his incredible new album Lohai which shows vast maturation since his Mercury prize winning debut Process. In the hip hop realm MIKE's prolific nature may have finally reached its peak with Burning Desire, a masterpiece that skillfully combines atmospheric samples with clever wordplay. The album takes listeners on a journey through the depths of loneliness and the search for love.
We have an ongoing lists of our favorite mixes and sets from the year here but these are a few that particularly caught our attention this month.
